Connecting, Learning, and Growing Together at Cruise-In for a Cause

There’s a moment at every community event when you realize something profound: you’re not alone. That moment happened for our family at this year’s Cruise-In for a Cause, but it wasn’t just about the cars, music, or sunshine. It was about the extraordinary connections we made with other families navigating life with Fragile X syndrome and related developmental disabilities.

As we welcomed families to the event—parents, siblings, grandparents, and caregivers—we heard stories that reflected the same mix of heartbreak, hope, resilience, and unwavering love that our family has known. Some arrived nervously, uncertain what to expect. Others came with confidence, eager to share advice and encouragement. By the end of the day, strangers had become friends, and community had become family.

Meeting other Fragile X families reinforced something powerful: our journeys may look different, but we share so much of the same path. We laughed about everyday moments, talked about therapies and school challenges, and offered each other the simple but priceless gift of understanding. In a world that often feels isolating for families like ours, that connection matters more than words can express.

Our conversations didn’t stay on surface topics for long. Families shared insights from the latest Fragile X research studies, workshops they attended, and resources they found invaluable. We talked about:

  • Clinical studies providing new information about communication and behavior supports

  • Therapy strategies that have made a real difference at home

  • Upcoming research opportunities that give families a chance to contribute to scientific understanding

These exchanges weren’t just informative—they were empowering. They reminded us that knowledge is strength and that the more we share it, the stronger we become as a community.

Of course, none of this happens without planning, passion, and support from people like YOU. The Cruise-In for a Cause wasn’t just a fundraiser—it was a space intentionally crafted to celebrate families, share resources, and elevate voices. Months of planning went into every detail:

  • Reaching out to local businesses and sponsors

  • Coordinating volunteers and event logistics

  • Creating inclusive activities for children of all abilities

  • Sharing research links and support networks with attendees

  • Ensuring every family felt welcome from the moment they arrived

Seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and watching children play together made every hour of preparation worthwhile. But the true highlight was hearing families say things like:

“We finally met people who just get it.”“I feel less alone.”“This event gave me hope.”

That’s the essence of what we’re building at Solomon’s Strength Foundation—not just events, but connections that sustain.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep fostering opportunities for families to meet, learn, and grow together. We’ll share updates about future Fragile X research, community resources, and support programs because information is power when raising a child with a disability.

To every family who joined us at Cruise-In for a Cause: thank you. You made it meaningful. You made it memorable. Most of all—you made it a community.

Together, we are stronger.Together, we are supported.Together, we are building a future filled with hope.
